Winterfell Lane project: Kitchen/Living room remodel

This beautiful house is nestled on a wooded lot, offering stunning views. Although the current homeowners have lived here for almost a decade, they were not the ones who originally built the house. With their children grown up and moved out, they finally had the opportunity to make some updates they had been wanting for years to their home. On the top of their wish list was a renovation of their kitchen and living room.

At our very first meeting with the homeowners, we had a great time chatting about their dream kitchen! We went over their entire wish list and then we introduced some fun ideas and solutions for their project. The kitchen cabinets and floors had a medium wood tone, but the clients really wanted a more modern and fresh feel in their kitchen. However, we found that both the cabinets and floors were in great condition and of good quality, so we decided to paint and re-stain them.

We were excited to remove the floating hutch that used to separate the formal dining room from the kitchen. It really opened up the space and made it feel more inviting. It was repainted black and installed in the formal dining room to be a built-in piece for their favorite barware and dishes.

Renovating a kitchen can be a huge inconvenience, but these homeowners planned it out perfectly and left for warm weather for the month of January. They installed cameras so they could keep up with the renovation while they were away. It was great because they still felt a part of the process, but they didn't have the hardship of being kicked out of their main living space for a month.

The first on the list of projects was refinishing the hardwood floors. We had our expert flooring team work directly with the client and designers on this because every wood species takes stain a little differently. Watch this video as we decide what stain to go with.

These clients have a super fun and colorful style! To match their vibe, and help coordinate with their colorful decor we went for a neutral yet bold look with a black island and white perimeter cabinets. The result? A total transformation of the main floor! It completely brightened up the entire space and makes their beautiful colorful furniture pop. We also painted the built-ins in the living black and added gold hardware room to tie everything together, creating a cohesive and inviting space.

After finishing up the project, the homeowners returned from their travels and kindly invited us over for a little happy hour to celebrate their newly transformed space. We were all blown away by the stunning results! Usually, we just finish a project and hand it over, but experiencing the space brings it to a whole new level.

Now that the kitchen and living room areas are complete, the homeowners have asked us to lend our expertise once again to revamp their home office. Scroll to the end to take a look at the mood boards and built-in designs we've created for this exciting project.
